Check a doctor’s registration
Use the official record for the country or region where the doctor is registered. Check the current details and any restrictions.
Find the right country or region
Start with the place that issued the registration and the place where the professional claims authority to practise. They may not be the same.
Use a current primary source
Open the regulator or government source itself. Do not rely on an advert, clinic page, search snippet, copied certificate or applicant-provided screenshot.
Check the name and registration number
Prefer a registration number plus the registered professional name. Where appropriate, compare the profession, location, qualification or regulator-recorded workplace.
Read the status—not just the match
Record the register type, current status, effective or expiry date, scope, conditions, restrictions and specialist entry actually displayed.
Verify identity separately
A genuine record can be misused by someone else. Keep the identity check private and separate from the professional-registration check.
Escalate uncertainty and recheck
Contact the authority through an official channel when records conflict or are unavailable. Record the source and review date, and recheck time-limited status.
Help for any country
Can’t find a public doctor register?
Find the medical authority through IAMRA or the country's government health website. Ask the authority to confirm the registration. Keep identity documents and registration numbers private.
If the authority cannot confirm the record, the doctor check remains incomplete. A missing online result does not automatically mean someone is unregistered.

Does finding a name on a register prove who a person is?
No. Someone may use another doctor’s name or number. A registration search and an identity check are separate steps.
Does registration in one country allow a doctor to practise everywhere?
No. A medical registration applies to a particular country or region. Check the rules and current registration for the place where the doctor is working.
What if a country is not listed?
Use the worldwide IAMRA link to find the country’s medical authority. Check that authority’s website or contact it directly.
What if an official search returns no result?
Check the spelling, registration number, and country or region. Some registers are delayed or are not public. Contact the medical authority if you still cannot confirm a record.
Is a verified badge a recommendation or proof of competence?
No. It means identity and registration checks were completed for the account. It does not guarantee every comment or the quality of someone’s care.
